Gym floor music has a different job from class music. Nobody is counting, but everybody notices when the music stops, when the same song plays for the third time before lunch, or when an explicit lyric comes through during a kids' swim lesson next door.
A checklist for gym owners
- Runs unattended: most gyms now run long hours or 24/7. The music should too, without someone restarting a playlist.
- Clean by default: decide your explicit-content rule and make sure the service enforces it.
- Variety: a big rotation keeps repeats down for staff who hear it every shift.
- Even volume: songs mastered at different loudness force staff to ride the volume knob.
- Energy by daypart: mornings and evenings may want different genres.
- Licensing: playing music to members is a public performance. Ask the licensing organizations what your facility needs, and read each service's terms.
Radio stations or one long playlist?
Non-stop genre stations are the simplest choice for a gym floor: pick a station and it keeps going. A very long playlist works when you want full control of what plays and in what order.
Studio Suite for gyms
Fitness Radio's Studio Suite includes every radio station plus a 48-hour playlist builder: build one playlist up to 48 hours, or stack existing playlists to reach 48 hours. For the gym floor, the radio stations are the easy choice. Songs flagged for cuss words never play on the stations.
